John Terry wasn't best pleased as Jamie Carragher went down memory lane with his former side looking to end their FA Cup drought.
Liverpool are currently 2-0 up against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon with a place in the final up for grabs. The last time the Reds went all the way in the competition was 16 years ago with Steven Gerrard's iconic performance against West Ham - a team that Carragher was an integral part of.
On that occasion, Liverpool had to bypass Chelsea in their semi-final and the Sky Sports pundit was trying to stir up positive memories ahead of kick-off by posting a nostalgic clip from their victory over the Blues.
The footage showed referee Graham Poll blowing the final whistle as Carragher beat Terry to the ball, before going off to celebrate with his team-mates. This prompted an annoyed reaction from the ex-Chelsea captain responding to the post with an angry emoji.
On that day, Rafa Benitez’s men claimed the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford thanks to a John Arne Riise free-kick and a stunning strike from Luis Garcia. Jose Mourinho ’s side did grab a goal back through Didier Drogba on 70 minutes but could not find an equaliser as the Reds continued their road to Wembley.
Terry played a pivotal role in the game as it was his foul that led to Liverpool’s opener. The former England skipper then had a goal ruled out for a foul on Riise, before Garcia added Liverpool’s second goal of the afternoon.
Carragher reckons the rivalry between Liverpool and City is the best English football has ever seen - something that was disputed by John Barnes.
Speaking before last weekend's huge clash between the two sides, Sky Sports pundit Carragher proclaimed: "This Man City Liverpool rivalry is the best we’ve ever had in English football!! We’ve never had the two best teams and managers in the world together fighting it out."
Barnes reckons Arsenal and Manchester United would give them a run for the money during the Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger era. Speaking to BonusCodeBets, the former England international said: "Despite Jamie Carragher’s view, Manchester City vs Liverpool isn’t the greatest rivalry in Premier League history.
"Certainly not at the moment anyway. Particularly when you remember Arsene Wenger vs Sir Alex Ferguson with Arsenal and Manchester United and the way they went head-to-head for years."
