John Terry piles in over Huddersfield penalty controversy against Nottingham Forest

Former Chelsea and England star John Terry has been left in shock after Huddersfield Town were denied two penalties in the Championship play-off final against Nottingham Forest.

The Reds earned promotion back to the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Wembley Stadum, securing promotion back to the top flight after 23 years away.

The Terriers struggled against the Reds at Wembley and lost the game courtesy of an own goal from defender Levi Colwill late in the first half.

VAR was included in the Football League for the first time during the play-off campaign and was the centre of attention in the second half.

First, Harry Toffolo was tripped by Jack Colback and despite replays showing clear contact, VAR decided against reversing Jon Moss' original decision. Later on, Lewis O'Brien then went down inside the penalty area after contact from Max Lowe from behind. Moss, who was refereeing his final game, had his vision blocked and didn't give a penalty.

As Forest held on to secure promotion, Terry turned to Twitter to share his view on the decisions by VAR. He tweeted: "Wow... that's two penalties Huddersfield should have had."

Victory sends Cooper's men to the Premier League and completes a brilliant turnaround of fortunes since the former Swansea City manager arrived in September.
