John Terry has deleted two tweets after appearing to criticise former Manchester United ace Roy Keane for snubbing a fan at the NFL on Sunday.
The Irishman was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the New York Giants faced the Green Bay Packers, which was the second game in a week at Spurs' ground. Keane attempted to keep a low profile but it wasn't long before he was recognised by a fellow spectator.
During the game, Keane was left far from pleased after a fan approached him for a selfie while watching the NFL contest. Keane responded by angrily gesturing to the fan that he was there to watch the match. To compound matters, the man then inadvertently blocked his view as he sought to get out the way.
A clearly agitated Keane then muttered to himself as he folded his arms and crossed his legs, clearly annoyed at being approached. The moment was captured on TV and caught the eye of many supporters and pundits on social media, with presenter Laura Woods starting the debate.
Woods said: "You've got Roy Keane, Manchester United legend, what would you think to do? Ask for a selfie? What would the answer be? it would be a hard no."
Terry responded on Twitter : "It takes 2 seconds to have a picture taken with the fans. I think this is poor!"
Sky Sports' Woods replied by saying: "Ahh John to be fair I think he says wait until half-time so it probably looks worse than it is, still made me laugh though."
However, the former Chelsea captain quickly appeared to change his mind and backtracked by deleting it, only to bizarrely repost it again for a second time. A second delete of Terry's tweet followed, removing all trace of it from his account which boasts over 500,000 followers.
The pair enjoyed many battles on the pitch over the years with Keane's United and Terry's Chelsea competing for titles and major honours. Keane made 676 appearances across his career, while Terry clocked up over 700 matches, winning numerous Premier League's in his career.
Since retiring from football, Keane ventured into management and had spells at Sunderland and Ipswich Town, before joining the Republic of Ireland coaching team. Alongside that role, Keane dipped himself into punditry and has since worked with Sky Sports and ITV.
In the midst of a busy schedule, Keane spent some time at the NFL. When he was able to sit in peace, Keane witnessed the Packers lose their first-ever NFL London game as they couldn't hold off the Giants. The New York outfit ran out 27-22 winners, as Saquon Barkley starred with 106 total yards and a touchdown.
Indeed, it's been a busy week for Keane as he then appeared on Monday Night Football for Nottingham Forest's clash with Premier League rivals Aston Villa. The United icon saw former side Forest battle to a 1-1 draw in his punditry role.
