Several Chelsea stars, both past and present, have given their verdict on Mason Mount's exit from the club this summer ahead of a switch to rivals Manchester United. The saga surrounding the 24-year-old looks set to finally come to a close, with uncertainty on his future circling for months.
Mount has just one-year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and with an agreement over an extension unlikely, the possibility of a sale this transfer window became increasingly likely. Manchester United were the only team that seemingly bid, despite a host of interested parties.
Several offers were turned down, including a "final" offer of £55million that was revisited by the two clubs in showdown talks that would reach an agreement, that football.london understands, is in the region of £60million. With the move all but confirmed, all that's left is for an announcement, but Mount wanted to send a message to fans first.
Posting a video on Instagram, he said: "Given the speculation over the last six months this may not come as a surprise to you, but it doesn't make it any easier to tell you I have made the decision to leave Chelsea. I thought you deserved more than just a written statement, so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I have been for all of your support over the last 18 years.
"I know some of you won't be happy with my decision but it's what is right for me at this moment in my career. I joined Chelsea when I was six-years-old and we have been through a lot together, winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and of course the unforgettable night when we won the Champions League... wish you all the best."

While some present players from the side such as Reece James and Marc Cucurella let their feelings be known over an exit for the England international, so too have some past players. Didier Drogba reposted the video with the caption: "Another prince leaving the club of his life. Thank you and all the very best to you, champs".
Former captain John Terry took to the post with three blue hearts, while Kai Havertz, who made the move to Arsenal this summer, posted some tearful emojis. While there still waits official confirmation from Manchester United as to the deal going through, it's just a matter of hours until an announcement is expected.
