Newcastle United have made former loanee Matt Targett their first signing of the summer with the left-back joining the Magpies on a permanent deal from Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old impressed during his loan spell on Tyneside, so much so Newcastle made his deal a permanent one. A fee of £15m was agreed for the full-back, with £3m of that being paid in January to Villa.
Targett played an instrumental role in helping Newcastle turn their season around. The Magpies were languishing inside the relegation zone for much of the first half of the Premier League season, even sitting bottom of the table in November.

Ever dependable, Targett played every minute of his Newcastle loan spell bar the 90 minutes against his parent club Villa.
And a host of pundits, former and current team mates and ex-pro's flooded the 26-year-old's Newcastle signing announcement Instagram post.
