One of the most violent men in MMA will test his “Hands of Stone” in muay Thai.
John Lineker makes his muay Thai debut Sept. 7 vs. Asa Ten Pow at ONE 168. The event takes place at Ball Arena in Denver and is the promotion’s second show on United States soil. Promotion officials announced the bout Wednesday.
Lineker, 34, competed 16 times in the UFC from 2012 to 2019. His release came after he withdrew from a 2019 bout against Rob Font and surprised many.
It didn’t take long for Lineker to find a new home, however. In the weeks that followed his UFC split, he signed with ONE Championship. Under that banner, he’s gone 6-2 with one no contest.
Ten Pow is a former Glory Kickboxer and standout boxer and muay Thai specialist. He’s 2-1 in muay Thai under the ONE Championship banner and rides a two-fight winning streak into the matchup.
With the addition, the ONE 168 lineup includes:
- Jonathan Haggerty vs. Superlek Kiatmoo9 – muay Thai
- Kade Ruotolo vs. Mikey Musumeci – grappling
- Liam Harrison vs. Saeksan Or Kwanmuang – muay Thai
- John Lineker vs. Asa Ten Pow – muay Thai
- Maurice Abevi vs. Samat Mamedov
