John Hartson teased over Aaron Ramsey verdict as Rangers hero calls out transfer 'review'

Former Rangers favourite Kenny Miller clapped back at John Hartson after he struggled to give Aaron Ramsey blockbuster billing.

The playmaker sealed a sensational loan move to Ibrox from Juventus on deadline day in the most eye-catching move of the Premiership window.

But Hartson struggled to warm up to his fellow countrymen's arrival in the city as he looks to help Rangers ' title push.

When asked on The Go Radio Football Show if he thought Ramsey would make the difference in the title race, sighing Hartson was quick to point out the long list of injury woes the midfielder has faced.

The Celtic legend said glumly: "Well, we are going to find out aren't we.

"What I would say is that Aaron is a terrific player, and it's a fantastic signing. Even though his move to Juventus, he wouldn't have played the amount of games he would have liked, he's the type of player who even if he wasn't playing at Juventus he would still come for Wales.

"Remember, he scored two goals for Wales against Belarus, but I don't think he has started a game for Juventus in almost four months."

After a sombre verdict on the move, he was pressed on if he thought Ramsey could still "do it" on the park.

He went on: "He's one of these players that doesn't need loads of games because he keeps himself generally fit and in decent shape.

"Obviously, still, I don't know. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has said he won't feature (against Celtic) but I wouldn't be surprised if he surprises a few people and puts him on the bench."

Following a less than enthusiastic opening, fellow pundit Miller laughed: "I think if this had been a signing on the other side of the city John would have been far more upbeat about it.

"It's a sensational signing. It's right up there with the biggest signings that the Old Firm have made in a number of years.

"I'm thinking when you go right back to Gascoigne, Laudrup and even in my time Niko Kranjcar was a big signing at that time.

"For Celtic, Roy Keane, Robbie Keane - John Hartson in his day when he was coming up the road.

"So it's a massive, incredible signing, and I think because it's on the blue side of the city that he hasn't given his countrymen as good a review as it could have been."
