Bemused John Hartson reckons Celtic should be holding out for DOUBLE the £7million tabled by Monza for prize asset Josip Juranovic.
The Serie A side have launched an ambitious bid to snap up the defender amid major competition from Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea after impressing at the World Cup for Croatia on route to the semi-final and a third-placed finish. His performance in the tournament led to skyrocketing valuations and an initial £15million price tag placed on the frontman Monza have reportedly put a lowball offer forward with Torino also considering a bid at a similar fee.
Former Parkhead hero Hartson reckons that the club should stand firm on their initial valuation as he compared Juranovic to fellow full-back Achraf Hakimi, who impressed for Morocco on route to the semi-final at Qatar 2022. Hakimi left Inter Milan for a blockbuster £64million figure when he joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Hartson told The Go Radio Football Show: "We go back to Juranovic, last week we were talking about £20million. He was one of the best right-backs at the World Cup.
"Hakimi was fantastic. He's at PSG, probably on £150,000 a week. He was great for Morocco. Juranovic was equally as good, and you are talking £7million. It's unbelievable.
"I don't know the structure of the deal, agents fees and blah, blah, blah. I would have thought at least double that. I'm shocked. I've listened to some of the comments on social media and Celtic fans can't believe it."
