Kris Boyd has floated John Fleck for a Rangers return as he urged Michael Beale to move for the Sheffield United star.
The Scotland international came through at the Light Blues - just like Billy Gilmour and Nathan Patterson - and was tipped to have a huge career in the game. A mixture of reasons meant things really never took off in the projected direction but he's since carved out a brilliant career south of the border and has been tipped as one that should be on the radar. He knows what it is like to play for the club and is a different player from the one who left all those years ago.
Boyd has expressed how important it is for Rangers to do their recruitment properly going forward with the next two transfer windows 'huge' for Beale. A massive overhaul is needed at the club according to the former Ibrox striker and with players contracts heading into the final months, he reckons an obvious one to make an approach for would be Fleck.

He told Sky Sports: “I think Michael Beale has spoken about it that the central midfield area is one he wants to strengthen. He’s lost Stevie Davis and it’s not ideal but I wouldn’t be rushing in and just grabbing players for the sake of it, especially in January.
“Moving forward it’s important Rangers do their recruitment properly. The two windows are huge. If there are deals to be done then Michael Beale will want to get them done in January but I think the summer is the most important because there is a massive overhaul of the squad needed.
“There’s players out of contract and I think the obvious one for me would be John Fleck at Sheffield United. Michael Beale has spoken about it like I’ve said before and I think John has been at Rangers before and knows and has been brought up on it. He is a different player from the one that left Rangers but people like that would be on my radar.”
Speaking about transfers, Beale has stated: “I want to give things a shake, drag it forward, drive the standards.
“It’s a special club and we’re lucky to play here. Whoever we recruit is lucky to come here.
“The ones who leave will struggle to play for a bigger club, so I definitely want to get players in, but the right players. I want John Souttar fit, Ridvan Yilmaz, Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak fit, that would be a start.
“If we can add two or three more, we could have a second team as good as the first team who were out there for this one.
“You have to earn your shirt. The last few weeks, some played regardless.”
