John Eustace hails Michael Beale as he responds to recent Rangers speculation

Birmingham City manager John Eustace has broken his silence on speculation linking him with a move to Rangers.

Some bookies have opened betting on the next Ibrox boss with Michael Beale under pressure after crashing out of the Champions League and also losing to Celtic within the space of a week.

Eustace's name was touted as a possible replacement for Beale by the Daily Mail, but the former Gers trialist insists he is not interested and is fully focused on his job at Birmingham.

He said: "I love my job here at Birmingham City.

"I've been here for 14 months now, I signed a three-year contract to help rebuild this football club and get it back where it should be.

"We are coming up to half way in doing that. I think there has been fantastic progress in the last 14 or 15 months and I want to continue with that progress and see this club fly.

"It’s my job to worry about the club. That’s all I care about. I don’t look at social media, I don’t look at the press. All I can concentrate on and control is what I do on the training field with the players, and that’s all I concentrate on."

Eustace also offered some kind words on Beale, who will look to bounce back to winning ways when Rangers take on St Johnstone this weekend.

He added: "Rangers have got a fantastic manager already there. That’s not a job that interests me at all.

"I am very proud and honoured to be the Birmingham City manager and I want to help grow this football club for as long as I can."

Eustace's managerial stock has risen after producing a stunning transformation at Birmingham.

The Championship club have suffered off-field issues in recent times, but despite this, he led the Blues to safety with their highest points tally for seven years last term.
