John Bishop and Sir Ian McKellen are heading to Cardiff with Mother Goose

Comedian John Bishop and legendary actor Sir Ian Mckellen are coming to Cardiff this spring to star in a pantomime. The two famous faces will play husband and wife in Mother Goose, which will be at the Wales Millennium Centre from March 28 to April 1.

The show, which is written by Coronation Street and Gimme, Gimme, Gimme writer, Jonathan Harvey, has opened in London this Christmas to rave reviews before it tours theatres throughout the UK.

It sees Lord of the Rings and X-Men star McKellen as Mother Goose and Doctor Who actor Bishop as husband Vic. The pair run an animal sanctuary for waifs and strays while living a wholesome life inside an abandoned Debenhams - but their life is set to change when a magical goose appears and tempts them with fame a fortune. You'll get to see Gandalf dressed as a Beefeater, interact with the audience and a whole load of singing and topical comedy, too.

Also in the cast are Anna-Jane Casey (as Cilla The Goose), Oscar Conlon-Morrey (as Jack), Simbi Akande (as Jill), Sharon Ballard (as Good Fairy Encanta) and Karen Mavundukure (as Evil Fairy Malignia), alongside Mairi Barclay, Adam Brown, Gabriel Fleary, Becca Francis, Shailan Gohil, Richard Leeming, Genevieve Nicole and Laura Tyrer.
