Like father, like son.
Joey Porter Jr. will be continuing his father’s legacy in Pittsburgh after the Steelers opened up the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday by taking the standout cornerback from Penn State.
The elder Joey Porter, a linebacker who played 13 seasons in the NFL, was drafted by the team in the third round back in 1999 and played the majority of his career in Pittsburgh. He won a Super Bowl in 2005 while totaling five All-Pro and four Pro Bowl appearances, all of which came with the Steelers.
The selection was clearly a popular pick among the Pittsburgh faithful, with some fans even being spotted at the draft in Kansas City showing off Porter jerseys.

Porter was largely seen as a first-round pick entering the draft, but he slid during the first round on Thursday night. That opened the door for the biggest no-brainer selection of the draft as he will join a cornerback group that also added veteran Patrick Peterson this offseason.
