JOEY BARTON has added former Rangers teammate Jordan Rossiter as his first summer signing at Bristol Rovers.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who is capped for England at U19 level, joins Rovers on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Rossiter began his career at Liverpool before moving to Ibrox in 2016, where he made 10 appearances for the club, scoring one goal, which came in a 5-5 draw against Hibernian.
He then left Rangers permanently for Fleetwood Town in 2020, who Joey Barton managed at the time.
"I can't wait to get started," Rossiter said. "I was aware that Rovers were interested in me as soon as the season finished and I'm really excited to be able to call myself a Rovers player.
"I've played at The Mem before but that was during the COVID season. I know just how special the atmosphere is there and I'm excited to experience it for the first time.
"I've worked alongside the manager before at Fleetwood and I know how ambitious both he and Rovers are!"
Barton added: "We are delighted to welcome Jordan to Bristol Rovers. A player who I know very well, Jordan is a leader both on and off the pitch.
“His dynamic and combative style, combined with his excellent football ability, will strengthen us in our midfield area.
“I’m looking forward to working with Jordan again; he will be a superb addition to our group.”
