Joey Barton given suspended prison sentence for assaulting wife at London home

Former footballer Joey Barton has been handed a suspended prison sentence for kicking his wife in the head during a drunken family row and leaving her with a “golf ball-sized“ lump on her forehead.

The ex-Premier League midfielder, 42, attacked Georgia Barton at their southwest London home on June 2, 2021, after a day of drinking heavily with friends.
