Former footballer Joey Barton, 42, has been given a 12-week suspended prison sentence for assaulting his wife at their family home in London.

The former Manchester City and QPR midfielder left Georgia Barton, 38, with a lump on her forehead and a bleeding nose after the incident in Kew, southwest London, in June 2021.
