Joelinton offers insight into Newcastle United dressing room as European push continues

Newcastle United favourite Joelinton believes the Magpies' dressing room is enjoying its best spell since he joined the club back in 2019. The Brazilian has been a revelation since Eddie Howe's arrival on Tyneside, with the Tyneside outfit also flourishing as a whole.

The striker-turned-midfielder played another key role in the 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, as Newcastle climbed into the Premier League top four. As Howe's side attempt to stay in the hunt for European football, Joelinton admits the feeling behind the scenes is one of total positivity.

"We are living a great moment, and this is the result of a lot of work and dedication from everyone," he told Brazilian outlet Lance. "The club has strengthened itself well for this season, we have a coach who knows the players well, and all the professionals who work on a daily basis at the club are also important.

"It’s everyone’s job. I arrived at Newcastle in 2019 and, for sure, this is the best moment we are living.”

Joelinton's Newcastle future was hanging by a thread only 12 months ago before a dramatic turnaround as he was withdrawn from the attack and deployed deeper in Howe's side. Sunday's performance was another reminder of how well the 26-year-old has done in recent months.

"We won a great victory away from home, against an extremely qualified opponent, which leaves us glued to the top of the table," Joelinton added. "Our thinking is game by game, always looking to score points, to fight for big things in the season.

"I'm happy with my performance, of course, but the most important thing is the collective. We already have another difficult game in the sequence, in front of our fans, and we will work to keep this sequence positive."
