Joel Dommett was overheard admitting to a National Television Awards blunder after holding his hands up to an 'awkward' on-stage moment.
Telly fans were frantically hitting rewind after Thursday's bash, which was brilliantly hosted by the 37-year-old funnyman.
But it wasn't the perfect performance - he appeared to confess to making a howler after one of the awards was dished out.
Masked Dancer host Joel was back at the helm for the second year in a row, having picked up the baton for the delayed ceremony last year.
He spoke about the 'awkward' moment after Strictly Come Dancing won Best Talent Show.
As the penultimate accolade was handed out he almost came unstuck, but thankfully he seemed to style it out, reports ChronicleLive.
Reigning champions Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice gave the winners' speech as they were joined by many of the cast, including pros like Nikita Kuzmin and Nancy Xu and last year's celeb contestants like Rhys Stephenson and Dan Walker.
It took a while for the Strictly star to arrive on and exit the stage and, as they did, host Joel clambered up the steps and could be heard muttering.
He said what sounded like: "This is awkward. Didn't rehearse where I'd come in," before going straight back into presenter mode to shout: "Well done guys, well done. The prop guy got a thank, I like that!"
It wasn't the only tricky moment on Thursday night.
Danny Miller jokingly took a swipe at Stephen Mulhern when he took to the stage at the National Television Awards.
The former Emmerdale star got up on stage with his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2021 cast mates when the series won in the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Category.
He won last year's gruelling competition so made a speech after winning as Ant and Dec weren't at the awards show to collect the gong.
At one point during his speech, he decided to make a comment at Stephen - who was sitting in the audience looking confused.
Danny said: "Just on behalf of Ant and Dec who unfortunately have Covid so they can't be here tonight, and Stephen Mulhern is in the crowd so not sure why he hasn't accepted the award on behalf of them."
The shot then panned to the television presenter, who looked bewildered at being mentioned during the speech.
