Joe Willock believes the 4-1 victory at St Mary's Stadium shows just how far Newcastle United have progressed under Eddie Howe.
The big away win saw Newcastle secure third spot after 14 matches in the top-flight season and the former Arsenal midfielder feels the team are showing the world exactly what they can do.
Willock, who scored his first of the season, felt that the second half strike now sets him up to get back to goalscoring ways at St James' Park.

Willock said after the emphatic 4-1 win over Southampton: "It was a good win, it shows how far we've come you know the way we dug deep to come away with the win today.
“I'm happy obviously to score and help the team. It was a brilliant ball from Tripps (Kieran Trippier) and a good finish."
It remains to be seen whether Willock starts in the League Cup tie against Crystal Palace in midweek or whether he is part of squad rotation. Either way he hopes to notch against the Eagles then Chelsea in the final Premier League game before the World Cup.
He said: "I'm itching to score at St James' Park now, I feel like it's coming and hopefully next week My whole performance and not only the goals, the level of performance. I'm happy I could score and hopefully it can continue."
