Joe Tippmann is still dealing with the quad injury he suffered in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles and was held out of practice Wednesday as the team returned from their bye week and began work for Week 8 against the New York Giants.
Head coach Robert Saleh wouldn’t commit yet on whether Tippmann will return to practice Thursday.
“He is a quick healer, so both statements can be true,” Saleh said Wednesday. “I’m always hopeful he could be available, but we’ll see. Tomorrow, we’ll see how he feels and whether or not we can get him in practice.”
It is a good sign overall that Saleh isn’t completely ruling out Tippmann yet, considering the injury seemed worse when it initially happened. His even having a chance to play Sunday is a win for the Jets.
If Tippmann cannot go on Sunday, Wes Schweitzer will get the start at right guard.
Wide receiver Randall Cobb (shoulder) was the only other active Jets player who did not practice Wednesday.
