Joe Swash reveals when he and Stacey Solomon plan to foster a child as she shares emotional family update

Joe Swash has revealed when he and Stacey Solomon plan to open their home to another child after he shared their plans to foster. The former EastEnders star recently described the pair as being "addicted" to children.

The couple, who have been married a year this month, are parents to six kids between them. Joe has son Harry, 16, from a previous relationship, while Stacey is mum to sons Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11. Together, Stacey and Joe share Rex, four, Rose, 20 months, and baby daughter Belle, who was born in February.

Speaking to OK!, Joe revealed that, despite being “at number six now”, the couple have no plans to put making babies on hold. "The baby bit goes so fast, and then before you know it, they’re toddlers – then you yearn for babies again. We’re slightly addicted to babies – it’s so nice to be needed. You think, six has to be it, but I’d never say never," Joe said.

Wondering when fans may want to expect another baby announcement, Joe said: "They’re only babies for three or four years before Stacey starts wanting another one, so I have to make the most of it now!”

His comments come as the does promo for his upcoming documentary which will see a more serious side to the loveable TV star. Inspired d by his mum Kiffy Swash’s work as a foster parent, Joe has filmed a documentary called Joe Swash: Teens In Care for the BBC, which shines a light on the state of the British care system.

And Joe and his wife Stacey have been talking about adding to their family and fostering would be a way they'd like to do it "It’s something that Stacey and I have talked about and it’s something we’ll always consider," Joe told the Mirror. Sharing the ideal time frame for when it'll happen, the 41-year-old added: "When our kids get older and the last ones are at secondary school, maybe then we’ll try to foster ourselves."

While Joe has grown up around the children his mum has fostered, the actor says Stacey, 33, feels just as passionately he does on the matter. "Stacey has seen how important it is and how needed loads of really lovely foster carers are because there’s not enough out there," Joe added to the publication.

Stacey will feature in Joe's upcoming BBC documentary (BBC/Firecracker Films)

We’ve not said it’s set in stone and we’re definitely going to do it but it’s something that we’re both open-minded about. We love kids and we’ve seen exactly what my mum has done for Daniel. We could do the same. We’d love to. It’ll either be us having another one or maybe fostering. It’d be nice to foster just to give something back."

It comes as Stacey offered her own emotional family update. The Loose Women star has openly shared with her loyal social media followers that she has been emotional about leaving her young family behind as she filmed in Scotland. The mum-of-five has been away from home having been back and forth between Essex and Scotland where she has been filming a new episode of her BBC One show Sort Your Life Out.

But on Sunday (July 9), Stacey shared how she had been reunited with her husband and their children after spending the longest time away from her three youngest kids since they were all born. Posting on the new social media site Threads, she said: "Made it home to my babies. Current happiness level 1000000000. Happy Sunday everyone."

Joe Swash: Teens In Care airs on Tuesday July 11, at 9pm, BBC One and BBC iPlayer
