Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon's first kiss went "horribly wrong" which left him questioning their compatibility.
The TV personality said that he was left "cringing" after they struggled to get off to a romantic start.
Joe and Stacey, who met on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in 2010, tied the knot at their Essex mansion this year.
Joe, who had won the show in 2018, was hosting I'm A Celeb Extra Camp when he and Stacey became friends.
It wasn't until six years after she was crowned Queen of the Jungle, the pair stepped their relationship up a level.
Speaking to The Sun, the former EastEnders star said: "And then it all went horribly wrong...
“I invited her to my [hotel] room and when I opened the door I just kissed her.
“She didn’t kiss me back. It was totally mortifying.”
Joe said that he and Stacey suffered from post-wedding blues for weeks after their ceremony at Pickle Lodge in July.
The couple said "I do" surrounded by family, friends and their five children in the Essex countryside.
Joe said how "real and lovely" his wife is, and that he knew the moment he met her that she was "the only woman" for him.
Stacey recently celebrated the launch of her second crafty home care book Tap to Tidy at Pickle Cottage, which she released on September 29.
Her release clashed with Joe's cookbook, which she had no idea about.
Speaking on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe, she said: "He has a cookbook out. He's so funny because he doesn't tell me anything and then he'll post on Instagram, 'I've got a cookbook out'."
"I'm like, "Babe, you could have told me?" And he's like, "Oh, yeah"."
Joe made it to the finals of Celebrity MasterChef and created recipes that are perfect for "meals for a happy family".
He joked about how he was the "messiest person" they had ever had on the show, but added that he "fell in love" with cooking.
