Former captain Michael Vaughan has questioned Joe Root 's future as England skipper, suggesting he may not have the energy to continue following their tour of the West Indies.
Root has been in charge for over five years, leading England in 64 Test matches. That is more Tests than any other England captain and only Greaeme Smith, Allan Border, Stephen Fleming, Ricky Ponting, Clive Lloyd and Virat Kohli have led their respective side's more often than Root.
And Vaughan has questioned whether the time is right for Root to surrender the captaincy, suggesting Root showed "a lack of imagination" in the field on day three of the final Test. "Joe Root will look at this series if it goes wrong and start to think if he is the man to take England forward as captain," he told BT Sport.
