Tottenham have confirmed Joe Rodon has joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal with the French club having an option to make the move permanent.
An £11m signing from Swansea in 2020, the Welsh international made only 24 appearances for Spurs and started just a single game last season, an FA Cup win over Morecambe.
The loan signing of Clement Lenglet had pushed the 24-year-old further down the pecking order and Rodon joins a Rennes side who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season.
As such, Europa League football will be on offer in Brittany as Rodon looks to secure as much game time as possible heading into Wales’ first World Cup campaign since 1958.
Antonio Conte confirmed the player’s desire to feature more regularly was part of the reason the club afforded Rodon an exit, while Spurs continue to try and shift a number of other players on this summer.
Meetings with AC Milan have been held over a potential move for Japhet Tanganga, as well as with Sampdoria over Bryan Gil.
None of Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon or Giovani Lo Celso were part of Spurs’ pre-season tour of Korea and the club remain open to offers for the quartet.
