Joe Jonas had a major fragrance faux pas in front of his "first crush".
The 37-year-old singer, who has admitted he prides himself "on wanting to smell good", has recalled an awkward moment in his youth when he overcompensated and his scent didn't have the desired effect,
He told PEOPLE magazine: “Going into my last year of school before being homeschooled, I wore way too much around my first crush.
"I remember going to see my brother perform at a musical theatre and I sat next to her and I just, you could probably smell me five rows back, way too much.”
The Jonas Brothers singer, who has teamed up with Kenneth Cole as its new global brand ambassador, admitted he has learned a lot about fragrances since that day.
He explained: "That you don’t have to [use] the same one. I was always set in stone.
"I was gifted one when I was a kid and I was like, ‘All right, this is it forever, right?’ You realise, oh, you can decide.”
The Sucker hitmaker has enjoyed teaming up with Kenneth Cole on its new campaign.
He added: “It was fun...learning about scents, especially with Inspire. I wanted to make sure it smells fantastic and it does."
Although Joe's early mishaps will be relatable to most people, his upbringing as a whole very different.
In the mid-2000s he became a star alongside siblings Kevin and Nick in the Jonas Brothers, and by 2008 the trio appeared in breakout Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, which spawned a 2010 sequel, and a third movie earlier this year.
Comparing the modern world with their own rise, Joe told The Hollywood Reporter: "I don’t envy anybody that’s doing this now, there’s probably a lot more scrutiny.
"Things happen a lot faster, and with that you also have an opportunity to kind of explain yourself quicker; when we were starting, we didn’t have a lot of options — just kind of hope that the article isn’t about you.
"Now you can at least go on your TikTok and say, ‘Hey guys, I didn’t say that’ or whatever it is.”
