Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have spoken out after reaching a temporary custody agreement for their two daughters amid ongoing divorce proceedings.
The musician, 34, and Game of Thrones actress, 27, issued a joint statement on Tuesday after “productive and successful” mediation sessions resulted in them coming to temporary agreement over how they will co-parent their daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 15 months, into early next year.
“After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the US and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents,” the former couple said in a statement.
Accourding to court documents, obtained by US publication People, Jonas and Turner “engaged in a productive mediation from Oct. 4-7.”
It currently extends until January 7 and requires “that the parties shall jointly submit a status report letter” prior to December 23, outlining the status of mediation between the two at that point.
The mediation comes after UK born Turner sued her American ex for wrongful retention, alleging that Jonas was withholding their passports and not allowing them to return to the UK.
The complaint against the Jonas Brothers star called for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained,” with Turner’s legal team asserting the “wrongful retention” began on September 20.
Shortly after Turner filed her complaint, Jonas released a statement disputing her claims and saying that he believed the two had reached an agreement to work on a co-parenting plan.
A few days later, the two reached a temporary agreement to keep their daughters in New York.
Jonas and Turner first got together in 2016 after he slid into her DMs on Instagram and she agreed to go on a date with him.
They announced their engagement in 2017 and in May 2019 decided to elope in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator as the officiant. The pair tied the knot again in June of that year at a chateau in Sarrians, in southern France.
Turner gave birth to their first daughter Willa in July 2020 and Delphine followed in May 2022.
Jonas filed for Divorce on September 5 after five years of marriage.
