Joe Hart offered a hilarious response on his career to a Norwegian TV presenter after his stray ball struck her prior to Celtic's 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw on Wednesday evening.
Hart, who made his 85th appearance in European competitions in the Polish capital, was warming up for Celtic's tie against the Ukrainian giants by sending long balls to goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods. The Englishman, who is aiming to be one of Celtic's leading figures in their Champions League knockout round push, aimed for the Glaswegian but was wayward of his target and hit Ingrid Halstensen was at the covering the game for Norwegian outlet TV 2.
When the ball hit the unsuspecting presenter with her broadcast being aired live on TV station TV2 Sport, the former Manchester City star would have known he had some grovelling to do with the keeper grilled about the incident in an interview after the draw in Warsaw. Hart apologised for his actions, and alluded to the fact that he was let go by Pep Guardiola and Nuno Espirito Santo for not being the most able of goalkeepers with his feet - stating that his passing is the reason why his career 'has gone where it has gone'.
“Oh yeah sorry, I was waving to say sorry but you didn’t turn around. Apologies," Hart told TV2 Sport. “Were you live at the time? Sorry. My goalie coach was literally five yards away. That’s why my career has gone where it has gone.”
Luckily for Hart, there was no real venom in his strike which could have caused even more of a commotion had he hit the ball with conviction - perhaps proving Guardiola's decision to be the correct one.
Having been City's No. 1 when the legendary Spaniard took over, he was quickly ousted from the club when Claudio Bravo was introduced at the Etihad, leaving for Torino and West Ham on temporary spells before joining Burnley on a permanent deal in 2018.
And with Hugo Lloris ahead of him at Tottenham, Celtic became his next permanent home for a fee of around £1m last summer as he was unable to break past the Frenchman in the pecking order.
Celtic currently sit third in their group after Real Madrid edged past RB Leipzig with a 2-0 win in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night.
