Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has waxed lyrical about new signing Oh Hyeon-gyu, labelling the star as 'something special' as he aims to cement a starting spot in the green and white shirt - firing an ominous warning to current first-choice striker Kyogo over his game time.
Oh signed for Celtic late on in the January transfer window with the club acknowledging that Giorgos Giakoumakis was set to depart for pastures new, with a move to Atlanta United all but complete - leaving a striking space spare which Oh fulfilled in his place. The youngster, who joined from Suwon Samsung Bluewings, has only made two substitute appearances but it is anticipated that will increase in the long-term.
Hart has praised him for instantly bedding into the Lennoxtown ethos, citing him as 'technically good' and 'enthusiastic' amongst other superlatives that will no doubt do the world of good for his confidence. And the England hero has fired a warning to Kyogo over game time guarantees, with Oh set to come in and take his place with the amount of games Celtic have left in the season - backing the new man to bring 'something to the table' as the Hoops venture on a treble hunt.
"He is young, really enthusiastic, powerful and technically good. Speaking to the boys, we are as much fans as everyone else when it comes to new signings. You sometimes take your teammate hat off and discuss people. I know people have mentioned how sharp he is.
"How tough he is to keep a hold of. Look, we don't get a whole lot of time to train at the moment with the schedule, but I think he's really going to bring something special to the club.
"Kyogo has been fantastic. But with the number of games and the opportunities he's going to get, I think big Oh is going to be able to show his true colours and bring something to the table."
