Joe Cole makes two word Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool Champions League semi-final prediction

Joe Cole, 'without doubt', has backed Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool to progress through to the semi-finals of this season's Champions League and has even gone on to predict another all-English final.

The trio of Premier League giants have taken up three of the eight quarter-final slots, along with Spain (Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal) the most of any country in the competition, showing the Premier League's dominant position in European football.

So much so, that there have been two all-English finals in the last three campaigns and the prospect of a third in four seasons is possible if each of the aforementioned trio progress through their respective quarter-final ties.

First off, Chelsea kicked off things as they were drawn initially at home to Real Madrid, which represents a repeat of last season's semi-final, which was memorable for a Christian Pulisic masterclass over two legs as former Blue Eden Hazard struggled.

"Tough one. The challenge can not be much higher than playing the second leg in the Bernabeu with spectators. It's a big challenge but there is bit excitement around this match and fixture. We know what's coming. It will be an exciting match and a tough challenge," Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said in his pre-match Middlesbrough press conference on Friday morning.

"It's nice to play a European team and maybe not at this kind of stage a team you've played so many times in domestic competitions." He the went on to add on the prospect of no fans: "It would be a disadvantage, but this game is for spectators and the game changes with spectators. I'm sure everyone will fight for the chance. These games, any game, is for the spectators and the game is different if supporters are in the ground.

"I have trust in the board who are in dialogue with UEFA and the government here to maybe find out an exception or a logical exemption to find a solution to have fans in the stadium."

Elsewhere, Liverpool have been drawn against Benfica, whilst Man City take on Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid who had knocked out Man United in the previous round.

With all taken into account, Cole reckons all three teams 'without doubt' will make it through to the semi-finals but has gone one step further in predicting an all English final once again, just like we had in Porto last season and in Madrid in 2019.

"They will be delighted with that result and I can see an all English final as well," he said on BT Sport's coverage of the UEFA Champions League draw.
