The Cincinnati Bengals have never been shy about paying quarterbacks due value.
Turns out due value for Joe Burrow, though, is quite a bit more than any other player in franchise history.
Buy Bengals TicketsBurrow’s historic five-year extension, which nets him $275 million and a stunning $219 million in guarantees, checks in well above the rest.
As The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. illustrated in chart form, the previous highest number for guaranteed money in franchise history was the $31 million dished to Orlando Brown Jr. in free agency this very offseason.
Burrow jumps up that chart by roughly $188 million, give or take.
It’s a shocker of an accomplishment for a Bengals team that has very much made it clear they view Burrow as the long-term solution and will do whatever it takes to keep him in town.
The previous high for guaranteed money given in #Bengals history was $31M to Orlando Brown Jr. in March.
Burrow gets $219M guaranteed.
Go ahead and marinate on that for a minute. pic.twitter.com/q3VJTlMbvn
