Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow isn’t trying to talk about the upcoming NFL trade deadline at all.
While fans have clamored for the team to make a move in order to save the season and media rightfully have an interest in the topic, Burrow shut it all down.
Asked twice about the trade deadline, Burrow put it simply enough: “That’s not my job.”
While the Bengals have predictably sat out of the trade deadline, the Ravens, Bills and Chiefs have all made trades to potentially improve their rosters while hoping to contend for a championship.
Some might suggest this is reading too far into things, but Burrow’s frustration in pressers between last Sunday’s loss and now has been palpable.
Some of that frustration — for players and fans alike — is the slow realization that this roster just isn’t good enough after multiple years of mistakes. Whether one trade can turn things around is very much up for debate, but any sort of move would at least be a sign the front office isn’t willing to sit around and let a year of Burrow’s prime go to waste.
