Joe Burrow clears the air on short midfield exchange with Patrick Mahomes

At the end of their Week 2 encounter, NFL fans noticed that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had quite the short exchange with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

But Burrow says there’s nothing more to read into the situation.

Appearing on the “Rich Eisen Show,” Burrow shot down any theories from outsiders: “Well, we had talked to each other before the game. After a game like that, not much to say. I got a lot of respect for him, I think he has a lot of respect for me. Sometimes you talk to guys, sometimes you don’t. We had seen each other before the game so no big deal.”

So that settles that.

There is no question that the Bengals and the Chiefs are the two parties in the NFL’s hottest new rivalry, with Burrow and Mahomes as the figureheads in the battle.

The fact Burrow has gotten the better of Mahomes at some key moments when other quarterbacks usually don’t has only amplified the idea that there might be something going on there.

But Burrow and Mahomes have always been very complimentary of each other and this is a continuation of that, with the Bengals passer clearing up any outside speculation about the latest encounter with Mahomes.
