References to Joe Biden's Irish roots will likely come up during his four day visit here - but he hasn't always spoken fondly of the Emerald Isle.
The US President made an unfortunate remark while on video at last year's St Patrick's Day festivities. Mr Biden was speaking at a reception at the White House when he made a poorly received quip.
The President said "I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid" in front of attendees of the event. The Irish Mirror reports that this was not a one off incident, as Mr Biden had previously made the same gaffe at events in 2015 and 2019.

The clip of the incident went viral on social media. The irony of the remark was not lost on Twitter users as preparations began in earnest for his visit to Ireland.
One Twitter user said: "Biden thinks Irish people are a caricature as he's stated more than once."
Another person wrote: "Remember recently he said 'I may be Irish but I'm not stupid.' Clearly he has a lot of respect for his Irish heritage and for Irish people in general."
Mr Biden's full remark was: "Bless me father, for I'm about to sin. I just want you to know, I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid. I married Dominic Giacoppa's daughter."
The US President is currently en route to Belfast from Washington. He is expected to land at 9pm local time, before heading to Dublin for engagements on Thursday.
