US President Joe Biden has declared a "crisis averted" in his first address from the White House's Oval Office, touting the passage of a bill to suspend the US debt ceiling and avoid economic catastrophe.
The bipartisan measure was approved by the Senate late on Thursday night (local time) after passing the House in yet another late session the night before.
Mr Biden is set to sign it at the White House on Saturday with just two days to spare until the Treasury Department has warned the US wouldn't be able to meet its obligations.
