Joe Aribo Rangers transfer succession plan is vital as Kenny Miller rues 'frustrating' Celtic comparison

Kenny Miller insists Rangers must replace Joe Aribo with quality as called on their transfer succession plan to be ramped up. .

It’s been a quiet summer at Ibrox in terms of new faces coming in. John Souttar is the only one to arrive who will go straight into the first team squad, although a £2.5million deal for PAOK Antonio Colak is edging closer.Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson have managed to hold on to a number of his big hitters after they penned new deals over the summer. Allan McGregor, Connor Goldson, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield all committed their immediate futures to the club.

But Aribo looks like he’ll be heading for the exit with Southampton in talks to sign the Nigeria international. The fear for fans is that the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos - who are also in the final year of their deals - could follow him. Miller admits it’s been a frustrating window so far at his former club due to the lack of new faces, especially in comparison to rivals Celtic. And he’s called on the Ibrox board to make sure van Bronckhorst isn’t left short with one of his stars on the brink of leaving.

"Joe's been one of a number of players that would have been up for speculation this summer,” he told Sky Sports. “He had a really good start to last season. He wasn't so effective after AFCON but still had a decent level of performance.

"There was always going to be potential suitors, it's just a player now that needs to be replaced. I'm sure Rangers fans would rather see bodies coming in than going out

"I can sense the frustration in regards to the lack of action in the transfer market. Especially when you look across the city, this is the way it's always judged in Glasgow, you're always judged against your rivals. The fact that Celtic have went out and spent a lot of money with almost £18m on four players - that being said three of them already were in the building.

"Rangers have done decent enough business in regards to keeping players, but there's no doubt they need to strengthen. There's always a succession plan. I've absolutely no doubt that new signings will come in the door. Ideally, you would like a few new bodies in the building coming back from pre-season. I've no doubt there will be more players coming in the doors of Ibrox in the next 57 days."
