Employees at a bus company could be at risk of redundancy under restructuring proposals.
Go North East has confirmed it is currently restructuring its management, supervisory, engineering and head office teams. Just under 100 people are affected by the restructuring.
The firm, which runs a network of bus routes across the North East including Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and surrounding areas, says it is working with colleague representatives to finalise the details. Bosses believe that in most cases they will be able to redeploy staff affected. The number of redundancies has not yet been confirmed but is likely to be 20 to 23, says the company.

Nigel Featham, managing director for Go North East, said: "This is an unsettling time for our people and we are doing everything we can to support them as the restructure proposals are discussed. Unfortunately, we can’t ignore the fact that the business is loss making and have to find ways of getting it back on track.
"The new structure will give us renewed focus on delivering reliable and punctual services. We are committed to keeping redundancies as low as we can."
The news comes as bus engineers employed by Go North East prepare to strike in the week before Christmas. The 150 engineers rejected a 10% pay increase and announced they will begin strike action on Monday, December 19, with the dispute ending on the morning of Sunday, December 25.
