Two brothers charged over a violent disorder incident were granted legal aid after a court heard they are “unemployed”.
Glen Ward, 29, and his brother Eric O’Driscoll, 20, are charged over an incident in which a large group of people holding knives and pitchforks gathered in the centre of Finglas, North Dublin, in August of this year.
The court heard gardai went to the scene and the gathering began to disperse.

The legal aid claim for the brothers, both of Deanstown, Finglas, comes after the court previously heard an allegation from a garda that Mr Ward had the “wealth” to be able to afford his own solicitor.
The pair are charged over the incident along with Darragh Collopy, 18, of Cardiffsbridge Avenue, Finglas. The court previously heard they were arrested after gardai allegedly spotted them on CCTV footage of the alleged incident.
Yesterday the court heard legal aid had already been granted to Collopy. Legal aid was also granted for Ward and O’Driscoll and the matter was been put back to next year.
The case is now adjourned until February for DPP’s directions.
