Joao Pedro confirms Watford stay despite transfer interest from Newcastle United and Everton

Watford forward Joao Pedro says he is “very happy” to stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian had been a target for Newcastle United this summer and the Premier League side saw a £20m offer rejected last month.

Pedro was seen as a key part of the club’s promotion bid under Rob Edwards this season and the Hornets remained adamant the 20-year-old would not be sold.

While the club were braced for another approach, they were under no financial pressure to sell following Emmanuel Dennis’ £20m exit to Nottingham Forest.

Reports on deadline day suggested Everton had made a late move to sign him but Pedro confirmed his commitment to Watford in a social media post.

“I spoke to the Board yesterday and I am fully committed to the club and looking forward to a successful season. Let’s go Hornets!”
