A Copa Libertadores-winning midfielder has revealed his desire to join Liverpool after admitting his admiration for Thiago Alcantara.
Flamengo star Joao Gomes helped his current side to glory on Saturday, with a tense 1-0 victory against fellow Brazilian team Athletico Paranaense.
But the 21-year-old is in hot demand and with clubs such as Liverpool and Real Madrid already linked with a move for the tough-tackling midfielder, a move to European football is seemingly on the cards. And the player himself has done nothing to dampen that speculation, by identifying the Reds as a club he would like to play for.

“I look at Thiago Alcantara," admitted Gomes, who has been likened to Manchester United's summer signing Casemiro.
Speaking recently to ESPN, Gomes said: Liverpool is a team I would play for. Playing in the Champions League is my biggest dream. My biggest dream in football.”
Gomes is believed to be valued at around £32million and although Jude Bellingham has long been considered the Reds' number one midfield target, a move for the highly-rated Brazilian could be more easily achieved.
According to Sport, Liverpool are battling Los Blancos for his signature and reporter Jorge Nicola says that Flamengo are already trying to identify a midfield replacement for their current enforcer.
Liverpool's midfield has increasingly become an area of concern with, a combination of injuries and the legs of older players taking its toll this season. Jurgen Klopp's is side is currently languishing in ninth position in the Premier League, having lost their last two Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
