Joao Cancelo Bayern Munich swap deal including German international and more Man City transfer rumours

Joshua Kimmich could be heading to Manchester City this summer with Joao Cancelo moving the opposite way to Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Portuguese international Cancelo moved to the Bundesliga side in January after falling down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium. He has headed to Bayern on loan until the end of the season.

He has made 20 appearances for Bayern and scored once since heading to Bavaria. Cancelo's side is in a tight battle with Borussia Dortmund for the Bundesliga title, and the question will soon turn to where Cancelo will be playing his football next season.

Cancelo's deal at City runs until the summer of 2027 but the terms of his loan deal which has taken him to the Allianz Arena includes an option to buy. Reports have now emerged suggesting that Bayern could include a player to not have to pay the £60m City want for Cancelo.

The Mirror reports that City are set to ask Bayern if they would be interested in swapping Kimmich for Cancelo this summer. It would allow the German side to keep the Portugal international without splashing out, while City would strengthen their options in the heart of defence.

Elsewhere, question marks continue over the future of City captain Ilkay Gundogan. The German international's contract runs out at the end of this season and he has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona.

The Times reports that City are willing to offer Gundogan an extension greater than the one year they have previously put on the table. It is said that Gundogan could now snub Barcelona's offer of a two-year deal with an extra 12 months option in favour of remaining with Pep Guardiola's side.
