When you think back to the dawn of the Golden State Warriors dynasty, it’s easy to praise the front office’s scouting and draft work, of the coaching of Mark Jackson, and later Steve Kerr. However, according to JJ Redick, we should also be praising Richard Jefferson for getting traded to the Utah Jazz.
During a recent episode of Reddick’s ‘Old Man & the Three,’ he jokingly praised Jefferson for having a hand in the dawn of the dynasty. Redick reminded Jefferson that his being traded is what created the cap space for the Warriors to acquire Andre Iguodala in 2013.
“Do you ever think about the fact that you are directly responsible for this Warriors’ dynasty because, without you and that bull**** trade to the Utah Jazz, they can’t clear cap space,” Redick said. “Andre Iguodala likely signs with the Sacramento Kings, and they potentially don’t become the Warriors that we’ve witnessed over the last eight years.”
