Jimmy White has argued was right to be annoyed at the behaviour of referee Ben Williams, who gave him a warning during the Northern Ireland Open, and insists he has 'no regrets' over their bust-up.
The snooker stalwart, aged 60, has been a professional for 42 years but is as competitive as ever and was left furious with the attitude of referee Williams during his 4-0 defeat by Luca Brecel. The bust-up happened in the fourth frame when White nominated the brown ball, only for Williams to mistakenly call 'blue ball'.
Williams then gave a chuckle causing White to snap 'What's funny about that?' before appearing to raise his hand towards the official.
Williams then warned him, and when White asked why, he replied: "For sticking the finger up at me. If you do anything again, it will be a frame to your opponent."
Speaking after his defeat, the experienced professional told Eurosport that the referee realised it wasn't a hand gesture later on and said he had 'no regrets' over his reaction. White added that the laughing of the match official was wrong.
"What I was frustrated about was that I'm 3-0 down, I'm trying my best and we're playing a serious match, it's not an exhibition," said White.
"This is not a fun situation. I'm one of the lucky ones financially it doesn't really make a difference to me, I could be one of the guys out there playing for his mortgage. I said 'no brown' and he starts laughing. He's only got to say 'sorry brown' and we get on with the game.
"He says I gave a gesture, which he now realises that I didn't."
When asked if he has any regrets about the situation White added: "Not really because it's a serious situation."
