The Raiders will finish the remainder of Sunday’s game without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after he sustained a back injury in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
Garoppolo, 31, was announced as doubtful to return by the CBS broadcast coming out of halftime, with New England set to take the field to start the third quarter trailing, 13–3. Backup QB Brian Hoyer stepped in for the injured Garoppolo, who was quickly downgraded to out, as the Raiders resumed play.
Garoppolo was later reportedly seen getting into an ambulance to be transported from the stadium for further evaluation, according to Heidi Fang of the Las Vegas Review Journal; CBS later confirmed the report. The severity of the injury and the time it occurred remain unknown at this time, and the Raiders have yet to announced any further updates.
Prior to exiting, Garoppolo went 14–of–22 for 162 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
