Former President Jimmy Carter is set to mark a historic milestone as he turns 100 years old on Tuesday. Carter, the first American president to reach this age, has led a remarkable life from his humble beginnings as the son of a Depression-era farmer to his presidency and subsequent global humanitarian work.
Despite spending the last 19 months in home hospice care in Plains, Georgia, Carter has continued to defy expectations. Alongside his wife Rosalynn, he co-founded The Carter Center in 1982, dedicated to promoting peace, fighting disease, and fostering hope.
