Jimmy Butler Applied for Perfect Trademark Amid Heat’s Run to NBA Finals

Jimmy Butler and the Heat are headed back to the NBA Finals for the second time in the last four years. Amid Miami’s red-hot run through the playoffs, Butler reportedly filed an extremely fitting trademark.

According to Josh Gerben, trademark attorney and founder of Gerben IP, Butler filed a trademark for “HIMMY BUCKETS” on May 24, 2023.

Butler reportedly intends to launch “HIMMY BUCKETS” brands of coffee, soda, beer, bottled water, coffee cups and mugs, and clothing, should his trademark be approved.

The filed trademark stems from one of Butler’s nicknames which has risen to popularity of late.

Previously known to NBA fans as “Jimmy Buckets,” the new nickname takes things one step further, playing into the internet trend of declaring someone as “him.”

Butler plans to take advantage of his surge in popularity during his postseason run.

Considering the date the trademark was filed, Butler put forth the motion the day after the Celtics won their first of three games in the Eastern Conference finals.

Butler being an entrepreneur is nothing new. During the NBA bubble postseason in 2020, the Heat star was reportedly charging as much as $20 for a cup of coffee, which he was cooking up in his Walt Disney Hotel room via a french press.

Now he’s back with another business venture, aiming to capitalize on one of his popular monikers amid the Heat’s run to the NBA Finals.
