Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh seems to have Georgia football on his mind this year.
Harbaugh and the Wolverines reportedly added a ‘Beat Georgia’ period to its practices earlier this year. This week, Harbaugh told Bruce Feldman of the Athletic that Michigan will break the Bulldogs’ NFL draft record (15) set in 2022.
“I think we’ll have 20 guys picked (in the next NFL draft),” Harbaugh said. “I bet we break that (draft) record. (Georgia) had 15 that year.”
On paper, the Wolverines are far less talented overall than the top programs in the country. Bud Elliots blue-chip ratio rankings, which rates teams based on high-caliber recruits, lists Michigan at 16th in the country.
Ohio State, who Michigan will face on Nov. 25, is ranked No. 2 and Georgia sits at No. 3.
The Wolverines do have a chance to be among the top programs in terms of draft selections in the 2024 draft, but to surpass 15 is wishful thinking, especially with programs like Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama consistently recruiting at the best rate in the country.
