Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh hasn’t spoken publicly since his trip to Eagan to interview for the head coaching job for the Minnesota Vikings.
Well, that silence was broken on Tuesday during a spring football press conference for the Wolverines.
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that his meeting with the Vikings was brought up when accepting questions from media members.
“When I came here in January of 2015, I signed a seven-year deal and seven years was up,” said Harbaugh, when asked about his decision to meet with the Vikings, via WXYZ Detroit’s Brad Galli. “And yeah, that’s what precipitated it—to see if that was something that I wanted to do or take a look at it.”
Jim Harbaugh detailed his decision to talk with the Vikings, and said the door is closed for him to return to NFL.

There were earlier reports that Harbaugh would have accepted the job if extended an offer by the Vikings.
However, after a phone conversation with the Michigan coach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter painted the picture in a more mutual light.
Like Schefter, Harbaugh’s take differs from the initial reports. His reason for being back in Michigan is actually quite simple, as far he’s concerned. If anything, that meeting with the Vikings helped him come to that decision.
“It just ultimately decided this is where I wanted to be. And really, a lot of gratitude for that,” Harbaugh said.
