Jim Goodwin targets two more Aberdeen signings as he pinpoints St Mirren transfer similarities

Jim Goodwin says he’s been at full speed since February focusing on his revolutionary Aberdeen rebuild. But he reckons it’s a breeze compared to the whirlwind signing panic of his first top-flight job. Goodwin has performed major Pittodrie surgery by snapping up nine new players. He’s grateful for funding from a Dons board who are backing his big changes.

Hayden Coulson’s loan capture from Middlesbrough follows the arrivals of Bojan Miovski, Luis 'Duk' Lopes, Ylber Ramadani, Callum Roberts, Jayden Richardson, Kelle Roos, Anthony Stewart and Liam Scales. But Goodwin still wants two more to complete a full starting team of new boys. That’s a huge turnover after last season’s dismal 10th-place Premiership finish. But it has been carefully plotted since the early weeks of his mid-season appointment.

And Goodwin is glad he’d more time to ring the changes than four years ago at St Mirren. He said: “It has been 100 miles per hour since the season finished and, even before that, when we first came in. My first season at St Mirren was quite similar when I had to sign 10 players. But it was a little bit more manic at St Mirren because I came in really late.
