Jim Goodwin has received the full backing of chairman Dave Cormack after Aberdeen's humiliating 5-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.
The Aberdeen manager is under severe pressure following a number of poor results and performances since the return of the Scottish Premiership after the World Cup break. The Dons have lost five, won one and drawn one since mid December and are now nine points behind third-placed Hearts.
Fans were quick to take to social media following the game in the capital on Wednesday night where Aberdeen found themselves 4-0 down at half time. The Red Army will now descend on Darvel for what Goodwin will class as a must-win game in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. Anything but a win against the West of Scotland junior high flyers and Goodwin could be given his marching orders at Pittodrie. Ahead of the Monday night clash Goodwin revealed he is set for a meeting with Cormack later today, he said: "I've had tremendous backing from the board of directors and all of the staff here at Aberdeen.
"I've had dialogue with a couple of members of the board, the chairman is here in the UK at the moment and I've got a meeting arranged with him at the training ground to go over one or two things. I have regular contact with him, as he likes to be kept in the loop about everything that is going on, and this is a scheduled meeting between me and him that I imagine a lot of it will be about last night.
"I don't need any assurances, at the end of the day I was brought in here to do a job and they knew the significant changes that needed to be made. We just need that little bit of time to get things to where they need to be.
"One good thing about this club, excluding the previous appointment before me, is that it is a club of real stability that back their managers and give them the time required to make significant changes to bring success. I know talk is cheap and that's not what a lot of people will want to hear right now.
"We can't hide away from what happened last night, but we know the hard work is being done to get us back on track. All I can assure the supporter's of Aberdeen, no matter what they think of me at the moment, is that I am working as hard as I possibly can 24/7 to ensure we get this right."
