Jim Goodwin insists Dundee United will keep the faith despite suffering a third straight defeat which has them on the brink of Premiership relegation.
The Tannadice boss watched goals from Bruce Anderson and James Penrice inflict severe damage to their slim survival hopes despite an Iain Harkes briefly pulling his side level. Two points separate United from second bottom Ross County with a clash at Kilmarnock at home on Wednesday where defeat could see their fate confirmed.
But Goodwin remained defiant in the face of a loss which leaves no margin for error. He said: "Obviously I’m very frustrated now and having to control my emotions and be careful what I say — because I’m extremely angry at the goals we’ve conceded in the last three games. I think four of the six goals are so avoidable. But, in saying that, the other results have gone for us. We feel like it’s a missed opportunity.
"Nobody is safe and we need to keep believing. It is very much still a three-horse race with us, County and Killie.
"That’s the bottom line. As much as we are hurting and disappointed we have to dust ourselves down.
"We keep shooting ourselves in the foot. It’s as simple as that. There’s nothing in the game — nothing between the teams at 0-0. Then a 60-yard punt up the pitch causes us problems."
