It's too late for Jim Goodwin to save Dundee United's Scottish Premiership status.
That's according to pundit Simon Ferry, who believes the Tangerines confidence is beyond repairable as a result of the same mistakes reoccurring each game. Goodwin replaced Liam Fox in the Tannadice hot seat earlier this month just weeks after being axed by Aberdeen but the Irishman has yet to taste victory from his first two games in charge and now has 10 games to ensure the Tayside club remain in the top-flight.
Dundee United sit rock bottom of the table, three points off Kilmarnock and Ross County, however, Open Goal host Ferry reckons Goodwin's men are "fragile" and that they are certain favourites to face the drop this season. He told Grosvenor Sport: "I think it's too late for Dundee United. The defenders are making regular mistakes. Jim Goodwin can do all the work he wants, but when your confidence is shot, it leads to mistakes.
"They've got good experience in Charlie Mulgrew and Steven Fletcher, but it's going to be hard because the likes of Derek McInnes and Malky Mackay have managed at such a good level and won't be phased by the challenge.
"Jim Goodwin is fragile after the way things ended at Aberdeen and when you add that in to the mix, Dundee United are the overwhelming favourites to go down."
